Day 7: Tuesday 25th April 2006, Kingston near Lewes to Alfriston.
Cloudy but dry.

After a good night's sleep, we had breakfast with a couple from Thirsk in North Yorkshire who were also walking the SDW, but in the opposite direction to us. We had made a packed lunch and left it in the hall, but the owner's dog ate it so we had to make another packed lunch.

It was a steep climb onto Swanborough Hill onto the ridgeway before descending into Southease. This was a walk we knew well as it was close to Diane's home at Peacehaven. We crossed the River Ouse and then climbed up to Itford Hill. It was a fine high-level walk to Firle Beacon before descending into Alfriston.

We rang the Riversdale House, a short walk from the centre of Alfriston, and managed to book a large bedroom with two singles for the night. That evening we walked to the Ye Old Smugglers Inn in Alfriston where Keith joined us and we again met the two walkers from yesterday.
